Hayastan MMA Academy Programs

Jovany Varela, in 1991 started training under Gene LeBell and Gokor Chivichyan at the first and world famous Hayastan MMA Academy.
Jovany is Gokor’s longest-standing student as he is one of Gokor’s original student and the highest ranked.

Sensei Jovany currently holds a 4th degree black belt in the Hayastan Grappling System (highest rank awarded by Gokor)
4th degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt under Gracie Barra Professor Thiago Reinaldo De Souza
7th degree black belt in Judo (red and white belt)
Master level 2 in Sambo awarded in Russia by FIAS technical director Master Sergey Tabakov
1st Hispanic in the world to receive this Master Level 2

A martial arts expert with almost 50 years of experience transforming and improving lives through the disciplines of Judo, Sambo, and Jiu Jitsu
His career highlights include World Championships and many International awards plus his role as an official Judge for CSAC, the California State Athletic Commission for events like UFC, BKFC, and Professional MMA and Boxing and Sambo FIAS Technical Commissioner.
